Hey, now I have fixed my other problem I now have a new one I never noticed before :(

THE PROBLEM- normally on my computer it has a refresh rate of 85hz, but when I run Icewind Dale it goes down to 60hz!
I have an Intel 82810 graphics controller, and the latest version (6.6) Does anyone know how to help???

Thanks, BlakJak

Unless your monitor has a resonance of 60Hz exaclty (In which case itll blow up) or you have extremely precise vision that can detect flicker at that frequency, there dosent seem to be a real problem.

Remember that when you go into IWD your resoloution will be changed to 640*480 and your OpenGL drivers will take control of the screen. Windows settings have pretty much no effect. Try going into the control panel for the 3d card if it bothers you.

Well I don't think I was given any special optical powers at birth, but I can definately see flicker on the screen at 60hz, it gives me a headache after about 10mins! Is there no way I can keep the refresh rate higher? On Baldur's Gate I ran the game at 800x600 and it worked fine (85hz). I tried a program called RefreshLock but it didn't work. Anything else I can do? Cheers, Blakjak

(In case you are wondering, my monitor has a function that tells me the refresh rate)

BlakJak, I'm not sure if this will help, but installing HOW, the expansion to IWD, will allow you to run the game at 800X600 resolution. As it also improves both gameplay in general and replayability you might want to think about picking it up if you can find a copy.

YES! I've solved yet another problem! I downloaded a program that keeps the refresh rate throughout everything you do! So thanks to everyone who's helped me ;)

Nice work, BlakJak

What program did you use?

The program is called PowerStrip- I highly recommend it, it allows you to maintain the same refresh rate no matter what programs you load. It is only a small download too, something like 500kb. I got it free from the manufacturers website- http://www.entechtaiwan.com Thanks again for all the advice, BJ Birkin
