I've just finnished IWD, and am thinking about getting HoW.. just have a couple questions in regards to it.
Do your exp levels go any higher that 1.8 million? I've capped out the exp on my main party, and was wondering if I could get any higher levels (I have spells that are meant for Mage level 9 casting, but can't use them because I can't get high enough to use them). |
Instead of an xp limit, there's a level limit. Your characters cap out at level 30. Even multiclasses cap out at 30/30 (or 30/30/30 for the FMT or FMC). I definitely recommend it as also the druids and bards get a -lot- better.

Sharkannon, by all means get HOW. As Starvid noted it raises the level cap for character advancement, but it also adds much more to the game:
* better screen resolution * new items and spells * a free downloadable expansion - Trials of the Luremaster -- which is available once you have HOW intsalled. |
Actually, another question
Is there any way to "bank" or cary extra inventory in HoW? With potions and new loot, and keys etc. it's a pain to try to keep everything on your characters. |
Among the new items that can be purchased in HOW are gem bags, potion cases and scroll cases -- these go a long way to making invetory management much easier.

Another thing I've noticed is that I can't wear say a Plate with +2 Armor bonus and a Ring of Defence +2.. why's that ?
|
In addition to the items that Cyril mentioned, Trials of the Luremaster adds true Bags of Holding! Makes carting around those extra items a LOT easier.
According to core Second edition AD&D rules, magic rings of protection and magical armors can NOT be worn together. Unfortunately, this was a bug in the original IWD that somehow got thru the Q&A process. HOW corrects this problem. HOWEVER, if you started characters in IWD who have rings of protection AND magical armor, they will be allowed to continue to wear BOTH. If you try unequipping and requipping those rings however, the program WILL notice the problem and you'll be forced to abandon the magical ring or switch to non-magical armor. |
Ok that sucks.. basically makes Magical armor.. or Rings of Protections useless..
Hrm.. my Pali, Fighter and Ranger all have Bathed-in-Blood.. is that magical? (It would be sweet if that wasn't considered magical. .but I think it is..) |
