Whats the plotline of IWD. How does it compare to BG2?

I've never played Baldurs GAte but the plotline to IWD is to go on a bunch of quests to find out waht the "evil" is in kuldahar eventually you find out and you get to kill a lot of things

In IWD the plot is fairly straightforward.
You move to a dungeon,kill everything in it,move to the next,repeat.
I am not saying that it is a bad game,only that I found the story a little too linear compared to BGII.

IWD's plot if far too linear and it seems a bit predictable. But then im spoilt by PS:T so i would think that. Still the combats fun and its always nice to kill, er meet new people.

<font color=silver>IWD does not have the diversity of side quests and NPC interactions that one finds in BGII. This is in no small part due to the fact that you create all of the characters in your party. As noted above the plot is rather linear, but that being said it is rather fully laid out and it is a quite good story. Personally, I've enjoyed the game every bit as much as I have BGII, in no small measure because it is such a different roleplaying experience.</font>
