well, i was recently going to the temple of the forgotten god when i saw a Veerborg by the gate. just for the fun of it, i tried to kill him. it was horrible! many HPs were taken and 1 character died. i loaded the game, went inside the temple and to my suprise, im attacked by a mage and 3 VEERBORGS!!! that was a really difficult part of the game! now im at the lizard cave place..
btw, please do not mention any spoilers of places i havent been to yet. thank you.

hi USS,

you do not mention what your party is made up of? I found that the hard guys are better to be attacked with ranged weapons first before running in to attack. In my party i have a fighter dwarf (axe, large sword, crossbow, throwing axe), cleric (mace, flail),ranger(bow and great swords), druid(sling), thief(bow, short sword), and mage(dagger, sling). Also have your cleric(if you have one) cast bonus spells for your party like bless, chant, etc... then get your mage(in between hitting the enemy with sling shots) cast magic missle, etc..

this should help.

If you have mages, then try Chromatic Orb; if the mage's level is high enough to have the stun or hold effect then the orb can stop the verbeeg long enough to bring it down.
Also, you might try setting the difficulty level a little lower; this will lower the amount of hit point the verbeeg has, as well as the amount of damage they inflict.
Web is also a good spell for temporarily stopping verbeeg. Animate Dead can give you some extra attackers (and some cannon fodder).

hi, and thanks for the tips
my party is like this:
1.Mage
2.Cleric
3.Fighter(no long-ranged weaponry)
4.Thief(no long-ranged)
i personally hate my stupid thief! she keeps dying and is good only for picking traps and locks. is a thief nessecary in IWD?

Your problem is your party USS !! You need to fill the 2 empty spots in your roster. Let me suggest a druid for one of them. Druids in IWD REALY , REALY kick A$$!! They have about a dozen or so special spells and some of them are truly devastateing. If you dont want to beef up yr group , then try useing a web spell and then a cloudkill.

Also, invest in ranged weapons. Anyone who can use a bow should use a bow. The vast majority of kills my current party has made have been from ranged attacks (2 composite bows and 1 heavy crossbow).

I was considerably dumb when I did this section. Forgot to buy ammo. SO thats 1 composite long bow, a heavy crossbow, a shortbow+1, 2 slings and a sling+1 - and not a shot I can make.

Fortuantly a level 5 paladin and a level 5 dwarven fighter seem to be able to handle one or two of the verbeeg. Good job too, since mages at this level are far more pathetic than I remember from BG1.

It would also help if I could get over the powershock coming from the ending of PS:T - a level 55 fighter with more than 700 HP makes you feel invulnerable. And then switching to a level 1 party. ARGH!

Yes, but there's nothing quite like the excitement generated by a 1st-level party.
