I disarmed all of three rows of runes and the stairs did not appear. What is with this? ???... ??????? Come on?!?

Why, there simply must be a switch or a secret level of some sort nearby. Hmmmm.....did you notice anything that might be out of the ordinary in the previous room?

After the runes... you have to go back to the previous room to activate one of the statue's hands..... Click Alt to show the particular place

It's the statue who's right arm is pointing his arm outwards.
