Is it possible to export characters from BG2:SOA into Icewind Dale? I've kinda grown fond of my character and would like to keep using him if possible.

Also, any suggestions for putting together a Lord of the Rings party.

NO, you can't transfer characters back and forth between BG2 and IWD.

The only transferring you can do is to BG2 from BG1.

Ah, unfortionately... its not. However I never understood why really... It would definitely combine the North with the South .

There are a few threads around the place that talk about stats for LoTR char's... but I cant b bothered repeating them.. have a look in SoA forum.

I never understood why they didn't implement importation of BG2 characters into IWD. I mean, it's the exact same engine, and there is really no logical reason why they could not have made it so. if game balance is a concern, well, who cares?? it would have been a lot better to at least HAVE the option of importing a high-level BG2 guy into the game than not have the option at all. go figure.

I agree, but the kits and classes don't match on a one to one basis. You can always simulate levels (within limits), stats and possibly some kit abilities with a character editor; but the tenth level spells and special abilties are probably no doable except with a major effort.

Yeap I got one, as I also have been inspired by the movie to make a LOTR party and go through the movie hehe.

1 Halfling Fighter
1 Dwarf Paladin
1 Half-Elf Fighter/Theif (I believe you can do that with Half Elves (?))
1 Elven Ranger
1 Human Mage
1 Human Paladin

There ya go, or at least something like that , you can modify it a bit too.

Don't the two stories take place at completely different times?
