1. I have a gnome illusionist, and I found a scroll of protection from petrification. For some reason, she can't write it to the book. It's not a necro spell, and its not a priest scroll (my cleric and druid can't use it). The only odd thing about the scroll the scroll describes prot. pet. as a level 2 spell, when it's actually a level 1 spell. What's up with that?

2. When I go to stealth with my thief, and then come out of it later, it does something weird when I go into stealth mode again. I click on the stealth button, but a stealth roll isn't done, instead, it waits a bit (like 10 seconds), and -then- does a roll. It hasn't been much of a problem now, but it could be in the future. This generally happens after a backstab. But it could be like 5 minutes from my backstab, and I try to stealth again, and this happens. Is this supposed to happen?

It just happened again, now with another abjuration spell (prot. evil). I thought Illusion's only opposition school was necromancy, not abjuration. Does this happen to anyone?

Well, I have the same thing with Theif, its pretty realistic really. A Theif needs sometime to prepare hiding in shadows. So yes it does take some time, its normal.

Now I'm not sure about your mage problem, I have with my Necro mage picked Wizard spells of different kind that I was not able to use. So its either just normal rules that apply or it may be a bug. Make sure you got all the latest patches installed.

The inability of your illusionist to write spells from the abjuration school is NOT a bug. Check out page 38 of the HOW manual ... it clearly states: "These opposition schools have changed from the original Icewind Dale manual."
