I found the three astrolabe pieces and gave them to the fellow who built it, but he keeps saying it still doesn't work and i can't get larrel to tell me anything about the hearstone gem

That's because you need 4 pieces. The thing isn't fixed yet. If you could post which pieces you have (ie where you found them), then maybe we can give you directions as to where the last piece is.
