I have Kagain in my party and he is proficient with axes more than anything else but I can't seem to find a good one for him besides the +1 but that isn't even too great. I'm looking for an axe that will give some THAC0 bonus/ anyone know where I can find one?

you can get a +2 axe by killing 'the maulers of the Undermountain' at the Helm and Cloak inn in Baldur's Gate

There another useful axe in Durlag's Tower. (can't remember exactly where)

The one in Durlag's is actually pretty useless, or at least it seemed that way to me.

If your party is going to burn rubber through Chapters 3 and 4 so they can rush to BG city and get the only good melee axe in the game, go ahead and stick with Axe. If you're going to muck around the southern parts of the Sword Coast for a while, though, Kagain's stuck with all of his points in a weapon that's only available in a +1 version.

But that's not that bad, if you ask me. +1 or +2 THAC0 doesn't matter that much. Axes are IMO a good choice for any melee warrior, despite the fact that the best one is only available quite late in the game, as opposed to, for instance, longswords. Biggest reason for this is that there's also a really good magical throwing axe in the game, making it quite a versatile and useful proficiency.

You can get the throwing axe under candle keep off the people that attack you.

The gaulentes to decrease THAC0 all over the place an easy one to get is in an unlocked box out side the water queens house at the docks I think.

Heya, Metal Gear, welcome to the forum.

One word of friendly advice, though, if you're going to post spoilers like that, include a warning in your post. There are people who like to play the game on their own, and accidentally reading information like that, about the precise locations of items etc., could ruin a lot of the fun for them. ;)

Metal Gear 05-29-2002 07:25 AM

Thanks for the tip and the welcome. Where do you get all the cool pic's from?

Memnoch 05-29-2002 09:57 AM

Here and there. They're .gif images you can display on your signature line.

To display an image, use the tags [ img ] and [ /img ] (without the spaces) before and after the url.

Yours should be:

You can quote my post to see the exact code, or look it up in the faq.

EDIT: Heh, funny one. Only it didn't show until I opened it in another window. Is it hosted on a server that doesn't allow direct linking?
