I just started playing Baldurs Gate after already beating Baldurs Gate II and Throne of Bhaal so I'm not really used to my characters being so weak. I don't know if it is supposed to be this way, but is everything supposed to be able to kill me practically in one hit at the beginning levels? I'd like some input on beginning playing, as in how to fight things without dieing so easily. Are you supposed to run away from half the things you see? I guess I'm just a newb at such low levels.

The problem with being a low-level party: Nobody has any hitpoints--so, if anything happens, you die.
Just grit your teeth and keep Reloading. Yes, avoid difficult fights until later. Just earn some levels and get a few HP under your belt. Then come back and make 'em scream for mercy. |
this is why god invented range weapons. if we kill them before they can hit us it make sit so much easier
tyr this for fun I gave lanthir her stats she should have in NWN and am tryign to solo her around. without pause or cheats it is hard. she gets one arrow off and they are ontop of her. on th ebrightside she has mad it to FAI and killed the golbins in the area. Well you got to be smart. Used range weapons and if your party isn't full pick up anyone you can. Don't put just anyone in the middle of a fight unless they have some good armor(I always put the best equipment on my main tank)Do all the quests you come across and soon after you get a few level ups it is not so hard. Make sure when your guy gets a level up you get max the HP they can get on a level up.
Example: if your guy starts with 10 HP every time you level up you want to get 10 more HP. If you don't just simply reload until you do. |

Wander around. Explore the whole map. And I mean the whole map!!!!! If you do that levels just come flowing to you. Also, there are items that make things alot easier. I'll look them up. There is an Ankheg Plate Mail hidden somewhere and there is a Ring Of Wizardry in the Friendly Arm Inn, to double your first level mage spells! I'll look up the locations in x and y and post here. This makes leveling up alot easier and less full of risk! You're welcome!!! |
