Use the spell "contact other plane". Something will appear and you can ask the real name of the one who calls himself Vexed thoughts. But you can only do this before you get the armor. When you talk to him say you are going to control him. Answer his next question with i do not know yet but i'll find a way. Now use the spell "contact other plane". It is a 4th level mage spell (if i am not mistaken).

I don't remember exactly the dialogue tree that I choose, but I managed to wear it without death. I told the demon that I would slay innocents for it, and he just gave it to me (even though I didn't slay any innocents).
