Okay..I added the Cheats=1 into the icewind ini files under game options, but when I am in the game, and I hit Ctrl and Tab, nothing happens. I am using the current version of Icewind Dale, 1.06, no expansion. Please tell me what I am doing wrong, or how do I get these cheats to activate. Thank you.

This may not be worht asking, but are you hitting CTRL and TAB together, or holding donw CTRL first, then TAB??? I think that it will only work if you hold CTRL down first.

I've done it both ways..I hold down ctrl then hit tab, I've hit ctrl and tab together..nothing.

If IWD is like the other infinity engine games, you need to press Ctrl-spacebar to get the cheat console.

Otherwise, Alt-Tab will minimize the game window.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but it may be worth a try.

Sorry Folks ... Baldurs Gate II is control + spacebar.
IWD is control + Tab, Did you click on save and then close the
ini file. It also wouldn't hurt to restart though it shouldn't matter.
Just hit control + tab while playing the game and a small console will open
at the bottom of the game screen.

Soladan, I have exactly the same problem. Have tried everything that you and the replies to your post mention. I have HOW installed too.
Any more ideas?

Hey I had the exact same problem until I downloaded the latest patch from icewind dale's official website. I forgot the URL, but after I installed the patch ctrl+tab brought up the text entry box....hope that helps

I haven't enabled the cheats in my game, but I did download the most recent patch. Now that it was mentioned, I remember reading in the patch "readme" file that one of the fixes of the patch is that it enabled the cheat codes.

Epona, I find it odd that HOW doesn't include the lastet patch for IWD. It just seems logical that if the programmes know you will be installing new code, they would include at least some patch with the game. Oh well.
