i'm here fighting spirits, undead, and virgins(obviously i know why they hate the living..........to die virgins). what is exactly am i suppose to do? Do i need to find the shaman?

Your goal is primarily to find the shaman, because you need his help, and because you feel sorry for him for being exiled to the isle. On the way, you will find other things, not related to your main goal. Go ahead and do them anyway. Find out all you can about the isle, and if you need help, just let us know.
