Is it just me, or this the game's monsters *too* easy? My party is around level 5/6 and almost all enemies I face are kobolds, hobgoblins, wolves, ogres, etc etc - hardly a challenge. Even the sirines at the lighthouse and the area south of candlekeep weren't a problem.
Here's what I've done: Cleaned out the Nashkel mines Rescued Dynaheir Explored almost all of the areas in the south of the map Doing Ulcaster dungeon right now. Next stop will be either the bandit camp or Firewine or Gullykin. Does the game scale the enemies you encounter to be commensurate with the general level of the party? |
Wait until you get to the Cloakwood. That should spice things up a bit.
The monsters you've met so far are all easy because of the fact that Level 1 parties frequently blunder through those areas, and BioWare didn't want to give young parties too many opportunities to shoot themselves in the face. The only "Tough" monsters accessible in Chapters 1-2 are the Sirines, the Ankhegs, and the Basilisks. (And maybe Vampric Wolves, if you're not equipped for them.) |
You could always take a trip to Dularg's tower I think that would be a real nice challange:)

No you can walk there but the tour from the beard is fun if you want that just walk to the farm then the bridge then walk north to the Farm there then east to the beard. |
It's hard to say if the game's monsters are too easy. When you first leave Candlekeep, even a wolf is a real problem. I think the game takes into the account that you could be anything between level 1 and 6 while you're exploring the maps to the south, so it can't make the monsters all that tough.

To make the game more enjoyable, maybe you could do less in the way of extracting every last piece of experience and take on the fights at a lower level? Or, you could play by a strict "no reload" rule, meaning that if you die, you have to start over and if NPCs die, you have to ressurect them or dump their lifeless bodies to the ground (or leave the pieces where they lie if they are chunked). That might make the game a little more interesting for you. |
Am now at the area SE of Larswood. Finally, some worthy opponents! Basilisks and a party of 4 snooty adventurers! (Whose butt I just kicked for justice, as Minsc would say).
