I really only want to use him as for his lore and maybe the xbow but i dont know on his stats they are extremely weak.

Garrick is good for these reasons
*No need for identify, lore is here
*At high levels, his song will help
*A good packhorse, and not to shabby with the X-Bow
*Don't give him armor, so he can cast spells
*Could try to pickpocket
All you need to do is have him learn mirror image, and he's good to go. Give him a few protection items, and you'll be happy. I found him really useful in the game.

DON'T USE HIM!Three reasons!
1)Dies WAY to easily, I mean for me he got chunked by shadow druids!(Nobody in my party got killed by them)
2)That pansy boy attidude of his OIE!They shoulda made him female for gosh sake!
3)His music isn't like all the rock band's! :D

I was ready to completly give up on Garrick and never use a Bard again, for the simple reason that he died constantly and he was costing me a fortune to raise the dead at the temple.

I held with it though and once he started to level up he came in handy for all the above reasons. You would probably have an easier time chosing a different character though.

*shrug* It really just depends on what kind of game you want to play. If you've never used a Bard you might have fun just trying him out and seeing what he can do.

Happy hunting,
Vixen

The only Bard good enough to be in my party is one I made myself. The class is too handicapped to carry its weight in a strong party, unless the character has VERY powerful stats.

If you are looking for a Bard there is one in one of the Cloakwood forests his name is Eldoth, and he is in the southern part of the map. I have had the both and I prefer Eldoth but if you get him he will want you to get his girlfriend in Baldurs Gate. His girlfriend is a theif and she isn't bad. When you walk into the right section of the city and you have Eldoth in your party he will just take you to the house she is in and you simply go in and get her.

Why do you hate Garrick so much. OOOOOh thats why he keeps dieing. Well I surggest you use Garrick, i've used him twice and hes died ONCE on me when i was at a low level party. Most other gamers who use garrick say hes weak and he dies but thats due to how good they are in combat. I know people are now going to post abuse at me but its plainly true. He is better than Xan and if you know your going in to a battle which will be tough and your party will have to mix it just stick leather armer+2 on him and use wands and cross bow of speed. But if you stick him in the middle of your party and use the octogon formation he is bricked in by the other players who can use bows, cross bows etc or fight with sowrds mean while garrick in the middle can use cross bow ( more powerfull than a bow ) and he can use his magic and wands Also for extra safty stick ghost armer on him.

this tacktick works well when lower class party. But if its low class party you won't have ghost armer.

Well after seeing th etopic I decided to give him a chance just to see what woudl happen. I tend to play him a bit diferently then most I guess. I have him in armor and he casts from scrolls and wands. Hi snormal spells I keep loaded as precombat buffs. So far he has not died and seems to be keeping his end up.

Why don't you just add him to the party to ID things then immediately boot him?

That's what I do as well. I keep him in Beregost and just pick him up whenever I have an inventory full of unidentified items. That's all he's good for, if you ask me
