Just thought I'd drop a line to see what people think of all the new spells that they can get in their grubby little mage hands now. Personally, I still think my favourite is Haste, along with a goodly supply of bolts, arrows, and those lovely superfast crossbows and bows you can get in the game. Closest AD&D gets to an automatic weapon, plus you gotta love the thief with boots of speed and a haste spell. Squeaky wheel gets the kick!

I agree! I never used haste in BG. I used
it in the old paper games & the originally 9
SSI/Wizardworks games. I think I will return
to BG & use "Haste" more. I cheated & created 6 pairs of "Boots of Speed", but that
did not increase attacks enough.
