I have finished the Vale and when I try to return to Kuldahar, Arundel(old man) has his way with my team

He used magic and portaled away when I played. You may need to follow a different dialogue approach.

Am I to understand that I need to start the game over? Bummer, spent a lot of time working thru the Vale... Thanks for the help

Arundel "had his way" with your team? could you be a little more vaugue?
Normally after the vale, he'll send you on the next quest. After that you may see some teleporting away?
