When I loaded up BG2, the Load screen had no background (It should the main menu, but with my games on top of it like so...)

And then the game crashes to black, with this error:

Press OK, goes to desktop.

Google provided a link to a G3 forum thread, but couldn't make any sense of it!

Has anyone got any idea what's caused it. I'd rather not reinstall, and I'd even more rather not start again on my games...

not entirely sure but dungeon be gone can be abit buggy

Didn't think DBG could affect my game if I wasn't in Chateau Irenicus?

Anywho, I uninstalled it all, reinstalled it, with patches and the mods I used and copied saved games over and it worked.
