also in baldurs gate when i first played a dwarf in a house asked me to find scale mail for him and he'd pay a good price for it.

i forgot where that house is and the only thing like scale mail is splint mail +1

Are you sure the dwarf doesn't ask you Anheg for shells?

Finally I don't know about mr. Shady - but he's probably just to add some character to the game
