I have played rogues before, but never really invested much points into pick pockets, man was i remiss. I mean stealling from an inn is probally the most usefull ability ive used, more so than any magic spell. Right now im playing an assasin with only 1 or 2 npcs in my party, and its one of the best character ive ever had, what underestimated abilities ive had, stealing and envenom weapon sold the character for me. Now im a paladin at heart, but i cant believe how fun this class is. "The silent blade cuts best!" ah... I mean "Tyr grant me strength"

That poison works on a surprisingly large number of creatures as well. It pays to try it out. You can add it to ranged weapons too (for extra fun).
I've soloed an assassin most of the way through the game. I've also dual classed a solo assassin to a fighter at a very high level (after the first couple of HLA's), it was a lot of fun (Poison weapon + greater whirlwind!) once I got my thieving abilities back again. The assassin dual classed to cleric is also a nice choice - the clerical strength and thac0 buffs plus a x7 backstab will dispose of pretty much anything. Have you go the Rogue Rebalancing mod? It allows your assassin to dual wield and provides some nice extra thieving items: http://www.gamesector.co.yu/avenger/ Edit - can't spell [ 02-16-2007, 10:57 AM: Message edited by: Shard ] |

hahaha im embarrassed, i was talking about stealing from the shop keepers, i mean i pop a potion of master thievery and ive got azure edge, stonefire or whatever its called, that mace that raises str to 18 and a few other nifty items. Im sure others out there are saying to themselves, "Whats this idiot talking about, I always use that ability" but to me its something ive never utilized before. Its awesome!

impressive - i've never managed to steal from Bernard before however high i get my pick pockets - and i speak as someone who has stolen and then sold on an industrial scale ;)
you can make enormous amounts of money but it does turn the game into 'work' if you want i can point you in the direction of some easy marks ;) |
