Which is a better, less buggy mod?
I would like to hear the pros and cons of each, please. TIA |
I personally like Tutu better. Tutu is exactly like playing BG1 with the BG2 engine. BGT is more like one massive game. Most of the mods for the BG conversions (the banter packs, NPCs, etc,) are available for both. I personally found it was a lot quicker and easier to run EasyTuTu for installation.
Really the only difference is the size: BGT is one massive thing and has a transition sequence from BG1=>BG2. I have never gotten to it, but I hear it could...use some work. There is a modder working to improve it though. As much as there are people who would like to say there's a huge difference, there really isn't. My personal feeling is that the improvements to Tutu are coming quicker than the ones for BGT. |
What is "EasyTutu"?
Also, what happens to my mods if I install Tutu? Would I be better off uninstalling everything first? |
1) EasyTutu is available at the Pocketplane group. Essentially, it does all of the Tutu conversion in a regular-style installer. Also, when you use the base Tutu installation, you need to install a bunch of fixes. However, those come with EasyTutu. You do have to use a degreenifier if you use EasyTutu and want 3d Acceleration, but it's a lot easier IMHO. After you do an Easytutu installation, it acts exactly the same as a regular Tutu installation - it is exactly the same but with a different installer.
2) They get royally messed. I would get rid of all the Weidu mods - the patches are required, and Baldurdash has no effect. Many BG mods are available in Tutu versions - except Fields of the Dead, which I really want to play. :( In any case, uninstall all the mods, and use Tutu (or BGT) on a relatively clean (plus patches and Baldurdash) install, then install other mods after. |
I've also heard BGT has some bugs still to work out, but it certainly looks promising!
