I'm in the town thats under siege right at the start and i am investigating the "betrayal at the front gates" crime. After talking with Mateo i went to the countess' house and found 2 of the guards you kill when you enter the town running around in circles ( fleeing coz of low health ). I killed them but the lil wuss countess' ran out the door and dissappeared.
Any1 know where she is? Also i'm soloing a wild mage. I am discovered alot of locked chests and "secret" doors that are locked also. Is KNOCK the only way i can get in or should i go and get Jan? [ 08-02-2005, 07:58 AM: Message edited by: Pop 'n Fresh ] |
Is there some reason you can't bash the locked doors and chests?
|
Bash!?!
Lemme put it down nice and straight. I want to be able to use theif skills without dualling. So I use knock to open locks but "find traps" is a priest spell. I'm presuming the countess is long gone and i am long screwed. |
well, there are ways of completing the quest without the countess, although you would have needed to talk to her at least once. Don't you have a previous load?
|
It's always better to play through any game (or part of a game) with a full party before you attempt a solo.
"Betrayal at the Gates" is only a subplot anyway. Even if you crash and burn the quest, you won't miss much. |
Knock is indeed the only spell that can open locks. I trust you know what Bash means (force attack a locked chest).
|
Hopefully not an exercise in 'teaching someone's grannie how to suck eggs', but you bash open a chest or door by highlighting an attack weapon or your fist on the bottom toolbar (going from green select to orange select), and placing it over the target door/chest and left-click. There's a percentage chance that you will force the lock, factoring in a strength modifier. Therefore a girdle of Giant Strength might be the best bet with your Wild Mage. This was not covered in the tutorial.
I agree with Six in that a party of at least three members would be advantageous on your first run through. Some of ToB is quite difficult and not necessarily Mage-friendly. It can be done, but I'm not sure how frustrated you're likely to get while giving it a go given your newness to this part of the game. |
Previous load?? When Hell freezes over!!!
I've completed saradush adn decided to give the countess the big finger So she can go *ahem* root herself. I am currently working on Watchers Keep and am absolutely diddled. I should probably make another post for this but ...... meh. I have the slime staff and have turned the fan on low. Well what do i do now?? The fire room is completely locked, the ice minions are invulnerable without the slime gas, and the slime room as been completely looted. The air room throws chain lightning at me all the dam time and i cant find the air staff. P.S: Whilst making it solo has it's disadvantages, summoning all the other companions for 2000 exp each and selling all their items is a great advantage :D [ 08-02-2005, 08:00 AM: Message edited by: Pop 'n Fresh ] |
It is indeed satisfactory to kill every single one of the NPC's, yes :D *evil grin*
Hit the TAB key to highlight all the loot on the floor. IIRC you need to kill a (couple of)Air Elemental(s) in the fan room. Then you'll find the air staff and everything will work out just fine. Check out www.gamebanshee.com for more detailed spoilers. |
so the air elementals drop the air staff?
O dear magical muffins. I've saved so many times and done so much since then. Do items ever dissappear? I killed the elementals in the hallway so maybe the walls obscured it. |
