I have been playing Shadows of Amn for almost four months now. It would only let me go so far before I got an error and now can't acesses my save file. It craps out on me. So I installed and stared playing Throne of Baal. I have been reading over this site and read that, I think, I needed a patch. But when I tried to download it it said since TOB is installed I didn't need the patch. Is this true?

First off, did you get SoA+ToB in the same box? That edition may not need patching, although I'm not sure 'bout that.
Secondly, were you downloading the SoA patch or the ToB patch? Since you've got ToB installed, that's the patch you should be getting. Bioware.com has all the latest patches.

Since you're already fixing your game, you should consider getting the Baldurdash Fixpack (there is a link to all of these patches at the top of the SoA forum).
