Under the influence of an oil of speed and greater deathblow, my PC archer took down six glazarebu, a succubus and a drow in two rounds!

Hmmm. A lot of people put down Greater Deathblow, maybe just cuz the prereq's for it aren't so great. Good to hear it works well, I'll have to try it. How about "Assassinate"? That's another one that I have heard is not good, but, I think it would be good with a dual-weilding F/T with multiple attacks per round.

Greater Deathblow can kill Mind Flayers in 1 hit too

If you want to make some more use out of Assassination, use improved haste first. A F/M/T can use improved alacrity, then use GWW and Assassination together for a great attack. This can't be done with out the improved alacrity.

Guess what Lord, that cannot be done, and there are two reasons for it:

1. F/M/T do NOT get any wizard HLA except for bonusspells
2. F/M/T don't even get lvl 9 spells at the XP cap

To get everything you need from assassination, I suggest making some fighter/thief dual class with grandmastery in some weapon and using Belm or Kundane in the offhand. Then use Improved Haste, then apply Assassination. Wammo, 1000+ damage if you are playing the right way ;)

To put some parmesan on these ideas: don't forget to put a time trap (if possible) or read a time stop scroll (with UAI) before. That will guarantee that every swing also hits. :D

I once had a Kensai/Thief dualled at level 21. You don't want to know what happened in the suggested scenario. :D

'KAI!'

Greater deathblow is not good for melee weapons, because they can't hit enough enemies in the space of time to make it worthwhile. With archers, who don't need to walk between opponents wasting valuble time, it can be very useful. Assassinate is good only if you have a decent THAC0 and lots of attacks. If your character can get in lots of hits it's a killer. If not, an extra trap would be better.

Since only high level fighters will get this I don't think you'll have to worry about thac0 or number of attacks

I think you can get a Kensai L21/Thief 28?

Yes, that is a rather mean combo :)

Assasanite sucks
with Jan
Because
his armor is impervious to
normal weapons
and anything with magic weapons
probably can't be killed by assaninate
so Jan dies.
