I've had this level 39 assassin dualed to a level 40 warrior for such a looooooong time. He's got 192 hit points and is dual wielding Celestial Fury +3 and the FoA +5 I had left him at the final battle for a couple of months I think, and I remembered about it, so I came back to him to take on this battle. I have tactics, ascension, and redemption installed. I managed to take out Irenicus, Bodhi, the Imoen Slayer, and all the demons from all three pools. Then comes the real battle.
Balthazar is the easiest one for me to take out. It's also best for me to take him out first I guess because he's immune to timestop. He'll kick my butt during those time stops if I don't stop him first. Illasera seems to be the next easiest, but her arrows are literally taking me down. I'm aware that I can't be disrupted from casting a spell from a scroll, but her arrows are lowering my HP so fast before I manage to get off a stoneskin that it's not even funny. There isn't enough time to cast a stoneskin before the battle cuz I was stupid enough to save it just secods before Amellysan comes out of the essence tube or whatever it is. I have -20 AC (wearing the Big Metal Unit) and things aren't going well. Any help? |
Oh nevermind, I used complete cheese for practically the whole battle and took every one out. I never realized before that becoming an evil god has a different dialogue option..."You disgust me." I particularly liked that part.

Could you write some more details of how fight went instead of just "I used complete cheese for practically the whole battle and took every one out." please? I would love to read your tactics.

IMO, the final boss battle is Black Isle's revenge for allowing CLUA. The final Boss almost FORCE's you to either cheat,,,, or get a REALLY good appetite for cheese.

Dimension Door was taken out of a choice for mages to cast since it caused problems, but you can get it from one of the pools (I guess it's from the ascension mod?). At first, before everyone came to me, I'd attack Balthazar straight off with a greater whirlwind and have on the stoneskin amulet (it looks like a tear of bhaal, I dunno what it was actually called) that Irenicus dropped when I killed him. Balthazar didnt die from that attack, but I couldn't keep fighting him because every one was on me now (all of the 5), so I used my dimension door (plus control-j, it was impossible with out that) to get away from everyone and I'd have enough time to set at least 1 trap. Oh, and that reminds me, I had 2 traps already set where Amellysan starts off at). Now, I'm not sure if unequipping and then re-equiping the stoneskin amulet makes the stoneskin start again, but I kept doing that anyway (more cheese, but hey, the battle seemed impossible). I'm not sure if this part even hurt anyone, but I used a GWW (I think I had 8 of them) and then used the frag grenades from the rod. In normal fights, that causes insane amounts of damage with 10 attacks per round. I should have checked the message box to see if anyone actually got hurt, though. I had spells that I'd accumlated through most of the game that I never even bothered to use (anyone else conservative about those here? :D ), so I had an extra stoneskin spell at hand along with other goodies (ADHW, for example). I used the control-j + set a trap tactic for a while, and I took balthazar out on one of the timestops (he's immune to them, and that was just waaaaaay annoying). Yaga-shura was a pain in the butt, and whenever he got down to near death, he wouldn't die. I figured it was that bug thing where they wouldn't die, so I tested it with control-y...and then he died . It was kinda accidental, and kinda not at the same time, but whatever. Illasera went down with GWWs (her stupid ranged attacks were annoying as hell). Abazigal was another person that I cheated with...I used control-r on his protections and then attacked him straight out. BTW, was anyone aware that firetooth+5 hits Amellysan? Maybe it was just the fire damage, but it did me good. Whenever her barrier blades came out, I just used a breech (from the wand of striking) on her. Whenever the blades were down, I'd go fight her with a GWW. Ok, so I'm aware that I cheated somewhat. But this was a load from a long time ago that I no longer cared about, so I just wanted to get this one over with instead of doing it the 'right' way. I started a solo sorc yesterday, and running solo on insane for the first time (I used 1 step below it before since I was new to both soloing and the thief class). |
Ah ... so you used cheat not cheese. No difference uh?
