Hi, I just started ToB and I don't know what the deal is, but I can't get the first challenge to intiate in the Pocket Plane. I got my party together and I've tried talking to Sarevok to give part of the soul to thim, but it keeps saying he is busy. I can't leave via the exit cause it says I haven't completed the challenge and I can't get through any of the barriers. I know either I must be missing something easy or its a bug. I tried putting the tears on those stone tables, but that did nothing.

Can someone give me a hint as to what I need to do?

That is a known bug.

Downlad these two patches:

What tears? Bhaal's tears? You should have used those in SoA

Since you are that early in the game, restart it. Well that is... my suggestion.
