Well, the easiest and cheesiest way to defeat Demobaboon is to make your thief gulp down an invisibility potion, and then set up.. well, let's say 5 spike traps around the big bugger, and he'll go down soon enough.
If you do want to beat him 'mano a mano', then you need a couple of Wands of Spellstrike (or Breach spells), a lot of buffs (Stoneskin, Protection from Magical Weapons, Protections from Magic Energy, Protection from Poison... etcetera) and take care of Demogorgon before you go and hack at the Marilith. He will just summon more if you kill them. He should fall.. eventually

and don't use time stop

BTW, the Wands of Spellstrike can be found throughout WK. Also, like Feral said, don't use time stop. Big D is immune to it. Ignore the Marilith's and concentrate of Demobaboon. If you have Keldorn, use his Dispel Magic ability often, it's a great spell.

u make it sound so complex lol. i beat him on my third try on core D&D rules only using bumper spells like aid and stoneskin etc. just surround him with my fighters and get my mages and clerics to first breach and dispell him and then hurl stuff at him and he will die... eventually.... lol

Well, Rockstar, Mr. Imprisoned One isn't so easy. I beat him fair and square with fighters and mages as well, but that doesn't mean that he's an easy nut to crack. He has some nasty abilities and he does some heavy damage..

Still.. my most glorious victory over him was when my thief-character Jynx laid the area full with spike traps and then engaged conversation. The poor thing never stood a real chance.

yeah i may have overexaggerated the simplicity, but i feel that having a "by the book statergy" used every time is not good 4 u. obviously the basics like 1)pump up your guys 2) attack 3) dispell if needed.

but having a set list i feel is not as enjoyable. though what i feel doesn't matter coz we all have our opinions thanks for your thoughts anyway.

Of course; 'by the book strategies' are the easy choice, but in the end it's gamer's choice to use different spells, different strategies when he feels like it. That doesn't mean that a generally acknowledged strategy (which works for many foes) isn't a bad one.

Who uses Color Spray in battle? Who ever used the spell Infravision when he knew what it was about? Why don't we use Grease more often? I think because we think they are useless spells (and in these cases they are quite useless at high levels), but in the end: the most useful spell in the game is hands down Magic Missile. Slow casting time, and considerable damage to almost any enemy. I won't leave Chateau Irenicus without it, no sirree.

Yeah... i for one use Grease. It is useful spell. I usually "play be the book" but then again even if you ask here you have to have one basic strategy to say the least. Know the buffs, the weakness and strength of the enemy. Prepare and prepare well. Sometimes something works for you but that doesn`t mean that it will work for me. So i try to do my best in fight. I must say that I am pretty heavy powergamer and I use the Reload knowledge most of the time(even if SixOfSpades doesn`t like it :D ). In the end it is up to the player who decides what to do: wich spells to use, should he use cheese or not and so on... so always try to make the best of what you got. Use all buffs,wands,potions... etc. I tend to use cheese most of the time becuase the game itself use cheese.(Munchkin anyone?)

I've used the grease spell once...and it was back in BG1. It offers a saving throw with no penalty, so it doesn't seem to be very useful (unless you cast greater malison first) in ToB
