Are the innate abilities that the main character recieves through out the adventure reputation based or alignment based?
Thanks in advance

Alignment based

Are you sure? I remember once killing bernard (the man in Nashkel that is looking for Greywulf - I tried pickpocketing and failed) and got a rep. reduction.

When I next slept I got the Dream and the ability Lanoch's Minor Drain instead of the usual Cure Minor Wounds - even though I was LG.

They are based on your reputation, not your alignment. In a particular game I played, I had Chaotic Good as alignment, but before some of the dream sequences, I made sure my rep was low by either stealing from shops or killing a few innocents, and subsequently I got an evil ability. After this I donated money to a Temple so that my rep went up again. I ended up with half of the abilities from the good side, and the other half were the evil ones.

Thats very interesting. I went through the game as a neutral good i believe and all my abilities were curing related but i never really gave it a second thought. Thanx

Wow. I always thought it was alignment based too. But now i see you get the dilusion that its alignment based because you generally stick with ur alignment reputation. Thanx everybody!

Even when I play Evil characters, I do try and be good...it means more EXP!

For RP, I see Evil as stealing, being dirty rather than slaughtering innocents.

I try and keep my reputation up for my evil party as well. Great wealth can be attained through deception. For example, making my name a good name, to get people in towns to trust me, and offer me good paying 'jobs' , etc ("am I that bounty hunter? of course I am not, would I lie? By the way, what does this town need help in the most? I will try my darnest to make this town safe.")

Yeah, keeping a good rep when being evil does help. For a start, you don't have those damn bounty hunters after you (So I kicked him in the head till he was dead. Gha!).
Every so often I try completing the game as an evil person, always choosing the most evil option, but it can't be done. Shops don't sell u stuff, and bounty hunters r always after u.
