ok, not freaking out this time, I really went in the tougher Abazigal fight and decided to not giving up like in the past...and things went well, couple of reloads later, only Abazigal was standing...yet, when we got him to Near Death, and surrounded him with my F/M (exchanging between SotM and SotR+6), Misnc (dual wield Angurvadal +5 and FoA + 5), Jaheira (Spectral Brand +5), Mazzy (dual wield CFury and SSotMask +5),all of them GWWing, and with two Skeleton Warriors, two Magical swords, and a Fallen Deva on the side...thought there'd be NOTHING they couldn't destory...but Abazigal just refused to fall Each of my fighters must've at least taken 10+ HP from him in one round (hell, once in a while, even Fallen Deva took 10+ HP out)...now, just how much HP this tougher Abazigal has? yeah, he casted Hardness every now and then, but the feedback still read we hurt him. Then, he proceeded to heal himself back to Badly Injured...that must've be like more than 500 HP in between Near Death and Badly Injured. Now I'm typing, almost half an hour after his Near Death...

I would like to think this is a bug...if not, just how do you kill him?

Are you sure you are fighting Improved Abazigal? In the Improved version, Abazigal does not fight alone( as in, there's more than just Ice Salamanders).

In any case, Abazigal is quite fond of casting Heal on himself. If I am not mistaken, he has about 250-300 HP.

I did fight the tougher one...several go-invisible drakes and a nasty purple dragon, along with those old guards. My tactic was to finish them off first and used summons to keep human-Abazigal busy, but not really hurt. After I finished all those nasties, I kicked human-Abazigal into his dragon form.

ADD:
btw, I'm sure that we took out more than 300 HP from him after he went Near Death.

I don't remember hacking away more than 300HP worth of damage from Abazigal before he croaked... He might have Regeneration(Priest spell) on, but I doubt so.

I can only say that have PfElectricity( or any form of Electrical Resistance) on at all times. He loves to cast Imprisonment sometimes, so watch out for that. He is quite vulnerable to fire, so take advantage of that. If you can get a MSword to distract him, Breach him and GWW him.

Dundee...I've done all those things, and Minsc got mazed couple of times in the process...and I did get him to Near Death, but he just refused to fall

Well... you could try Feeblemind. Just remember not to Dispel it( no whack-whack with SotM) until he is Near Death for a couple of rounds.

Oh yeah, just remembered. Abby needs to talk to you before he croaks. So make sure you are not whacking him too fast.

Yep, you should give him a second of two of breathing so that he can spit out his last words. :D

I've had that problem before. Note to everyone else: Don't use the Time Stop and Harm combination together against him. -_- Anyways, when you get him down to the low teens in HP, back off a bit except for one Fighter. You can control this a bit by using CTRL-J. Doesn't he have a final speech that he says?

well, how about while he should've been close dead (= in the standard fight, the game will automatically pause, and let him give the speech), he wingbuffed everyone away and HEAL himself to uninjured?

ADD:
I once used TS, but let my F/M whacking 100+ HP out of him while Near Death, and after the time stop, he wingbuffed everyone away and healed himself back to Uninjured.
