wow, ok i know how to play this game, but sometimes when you guys speak, it doesnt make alot of sense to me lol, and im sure im not alone! yes i am new to the forums, but not the games, and i think it kind of alienates the newer members with all of the crazy acryonyms (most i have found out, but some still leave me completely puzzled..)
so if somebody experienced and generous would compile a list of them and a quick definition that would be awesome lol, and im sure if you leave any out somebody else can allways come back here and fill you in.. ;D

There is a long list of acronyms and their meanings in the SoA Forum's FAQ. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, let me know about it.

A list of common nicknames (spoilers are bound to appear)

Cloak of Cheese: Cloak of Mirroring, a magical cloak considered so overpowered that many find merely using it cheesy. It reflect all spells targeted at the wearer back at the caster. Like a perpetual spell turning. ToB nerfs this item, but it is still very powerful.

Shield of Cheese: Shield of Balduran. Does the same as the cloak, but only with beholder rays. Many also consider this item too cheesy to warrant it's use.

Viccy: Short affectionate form of Viconia. A drow cleric. Personally I would be very wary of ever using an affectionate form of a drow's name.

Immy (or Immie): Short affectionate form of Imoen. Not that Imoen's name needs any shortening.

Ano: Short (affectionate) form of Anomen. A human Fighter->Cleric.

Anemone: Mildly taunting nickname for Anomen.

Annoymen: A scathing nickname for Anomen. Should be obvious how he earned it.

Beardo Weirdo: An even more insulting nickname for Anomen. Was mainly used by Anti-Anomen Society cronies.

Edwina: A femininisation of Edwin. Edwin once happened upon a mysterious scroll...

Jah: Not the name of a diety, but a short form of Jaheira. A fighter/druid.

Jon Bon: An affectionate nickname for Jon Irenicus, the main Baddie of the BG2. Perhaps also a jab at a famous rockstar that some might find just as vile an villaneous.

Jonny Boy (or Johnny Boy): Also an affectionate nickname for Jon Irenicus. While he may be the big evil guy, many people secretly admire him.

Chateau Irenicus: The introductory dungeon that most players should now know a bit too well.

Sola: A short form of Soulafein. A likable male drow that you meet in the Underdark. A popular mod make him able to join your party. The fact that he is grossly overpowered is somewhat alleviated by his lovable character.

Yoshi: Not a big green reptile, but a short affectionate form of Yoshimo. A boastful bounty hunter with a dark secret.

Thax: A short form of Thaxlssilya. A young male shadow dragon.

Nizi: A short form of Nizidramiiyt. An older female black dragon.

The big red: An ominous nickname for the red dragon Firkraag. Often used by people who don't want to spoil too much.

The ToB Npc: A nickname for Sarevok (who will join you in ToB). Often used by people who don't want to spoil those who have yet to play ToB.

Kensage: A Kensai->Mage. A very popular dualclass combination since there is practically no drawbacks for any of the two combined classes.
