<font color=skyblue>It is not often anymore that a moderator has to come in and solve issues between the membership on these forums. It is not my most favorite thing to do, so let me make an invitation to all members that visit this forum that we do not tolerate people calling others idiots or worse, as I have seen done here in the past day or two. Nor do we allow fighting and arguing to persist. All of us here are old enough to be better than that.

When my three year old misbehaves, I have to send her to "time-out". The moderation of these forums will do the same to any "children" that feel like they can call others vulgar names and get away with it, or harrass another because he or she made an error.

Do not force yourselves into suspension from this place, just because you feel that you have to pretend to be the "big man" on campus. That attitude does not bode well with our webmaster.

TyranyuS, I am speaking directly to you, with the hopes that others will learn from this error in your judgement.

And as such, I have added Dundee and Larry here as Mod's to this Forum.

It's rare that we have troubles ANYWHERE on Ironworks Forum, and we have a very fair rule system, so anytime we have a problem, we take care of it ASAP.

First time abuse will get the abuser a 2-Week suspension. A second time? Banned.

We care a lot for our members, and want EVERYONE to be respected as they would be in real-life. Sitting behind a PC gives a rare few the feeling they are not responsable for their actions, but they are.

Thanks everyone!!

Hear, hear. Alas, not everybody cares enough to be nice :(

(I realize that I was out of line as well, but I was trying to explain that to the afore-mentioned user. My apologies.)

Huh, wasn't a 2 week ban kinda overeacting? Just makes somebody use another name and gives them a reason to hate the forum. i.e. coming here and posting flames to every thread. I agree some of the stuff said wasn't very subtle, but a ban from forums when you can just make a new name always seems a bit wierd.

Not intending to stir any s**t here, just voicing my opinion

Xen 08-27-2003 05:56 AM

True. But i think this happens sometimes but AFAIK bannes one again.

Considering how peaceful the IW forums usually are, if a mysterious new recruit starts flaming for no apparent reason, we'll know who he is ;)

Let us just say technology is a wonderful thing for identifying people on the Internet. ;) We have our ways to observe naughty people. Rest assured, we do have measures to block out troublemakers from the forums.

ADD] Regarding the severity of the suspension. It must be noted that TyranyuS was warned( aka Yellow Card) and he chose to ignore that warning. When a warning is not heeded, then it leaves us with no choice but to implement a penalty( Red Card, aka Suspension).

Moderators in Ironworks are a tolerant lot, and when a diplomatic option is available, we use that option first; but if a member chooses to abuse our patience and continue with his/her misdeeds, then we will not hestitate to punish the offender.

Rule #1: Try not to send messages when you're angry.
Rule #2: If you sent a message when you were angry, and you sounded like a snot, apologize profusely in your very next message.
Rule #3: Read over your message before you send it. If it adds nothing new to the conversation, trash it and save people some room in their inboxes.
