I haven't played Bg2 since almost 1/2 a year and even then there were some stuff I did't understand plus that, although i am an "experienced" RPG player, i just submited to ironworks a couple of days ago. Anyway i just wondered what do you think is the best weapon and armor in the game? Maybe you could compare some (like Carsomyr +6 and that upgraded 2h sword that the blue dragon drops-sorry, forgot it's name; maybe you could also say which is the best bow, like i remember having all 3 of those bows and only one string-i mean what would be the best choice).
Hope i'm not repeating this post or anything and if i am i'm sorry!

The best weapon is hard it depends whic char u play like carsomyr is nice for paladin and staff of the ram NICE for mages...there are many good weapons out there it is mostly what u like

Isn't the 'sword that the blue dragon drops' Gram the Sword of Grief? That's a pretty decent sword, IMHO. But as Cristian said, it depends on what you play as a class. Celestial Fury is a good sword, and so is Gram, Holy Avenger, Psionic Blade etc.

other candidates for best weapon include
flail of ages(flail that does elemental damgage}
crom faeyr{warhammer that sets your str to 25 and insta-kills golems)
mace of disruption +2 certainly has uses(instakills undead strikes as a +4 weapon)
alot of nice staves the best of which is the staff of magi(other good ones Rhynn(basic +4), Ram(tob only most pure physical damage in the game)
the silver sword is a favorite of mine(vorpal blade, theres an axe in tob that's vorpal too)

Actually, both the Ravager +6 and the Axe of Unyielding +5 have vorpal effects.

Yea, but doesn't the Silver Sword have a higher percentage of vorpaling somebody than the Axe of the Unyielding and the Ravager? Only weapon I know of that can behead a dragon anyway (yea I know that put a weapon in the game that is able to vorpal giant type creatures, golems, dragons and such, but the Silver Sword has done that just as good).

Yes, but, IIRC the silver sword allows a save vs. death while ravager doesn't (not sure about the axe)

Silver Sword - 25% chance per hit, save at -2
Ravager +6 - 10% chance per hit, no save
Axe of Unyielding - 10% chance per hit, no save
