Has anyone noticed the oddnes of names throughout RPG games, and the fantasy genre as a whole. I mean, yes, you expect some slightly outlandish things, but all the time.
What do people think is the longest/stupidest/most unnescessary name in an RPG game. Mine is Nizidramanii'yt, the black dragon in BG2. By the way anything from Tolkien is not elegible. The man invented an entire LANGUAGE on which to base names, and so forth, so leave him out. And finally, just how do you pronounce Drizz't? |
What about Ingeloakastimizilian, the frost dragon (from the novel The Crystal Shard)? Dragons are ment to have ancient and strange names.
And Sahaugin names? Uf. EDIT: And I pronounce Drizzt like it is written: [ d r i z t ]. But I am not from London. [ 01-11-2003, 05:14 PM: Message edited by: Vedran ] |
The SOA manual states that Drizzt is pronounced "dritst" as a German or Italian speaker would read it out loud. Most of the Drow names are stupid and their "language" that some like to quote is simlpy "English" which is spiced up. It has no features of any language other than English and it hardly "sounds" elvish, at least not to me. It sounds like someone with a mouth full of marbles.
