I have tried everything that I can think of, but I can't unlock the doors on this level. I acquired the slime scepter and opened one of the ice doors. Other than the libraries, I am locked out. I have been searching the libraries for hours for some clues. Getting desparate. Please help.

Have you talked to the little imp yet ?
He tells you that each library was owned by a wizard.
There were four wizards, each specializing in a certain element.
In every library you'll find a note of one of the wizards, on how to kill the creation of another wizard.
The Imp should have given you a staff i believe, to open the air-elemental room. One of those elements should have dropped a staff too.
Just read the notes, open the correct doors and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the welcome, Daan. I talked to the imp. He didn't give me anything. I beat the air elementals but didn't see any staff. I will search the ground near the battle site again.

<font color="gold">The Imp doesn't give you a staff. However, when you enter the Wind-room, you might need to turn the big fan for a big bad snake to appear. It will drop a Staff. ;)
Also, to get a move-on, you must turn the fan one more time after beating the Snake and the Wind Elementals. [img]smile.gif[/img] </font>

The snake appears in the poison room, not the wind room. One of the greater air elementals you killed n the wind room after turning the fan on had the staff.
