this really sucks, i didnt have this problem the last time i patched my game, maybe because i used the interplay version.

Is it slow for all games, or just BG? Run the full installation and see if it improves load/save times. If it is so slow that it really detracts from the game's entertainment value, a faster hard drive may be needed.

Save your save games etc and uninstall baldurs gate. Then reinstall it doing a Full Installation and use the offical non-beta patch. Defraging your hdd could also help. Otherwise a hdd format and a fresh install of windows or whatever os you use could be your only option.

SoA
Tob
Tob patch(bioware)
Baldurdash fix pack
Beta patch for Bioware Tob patch
