This guy is gettin' on my last nerve..

How in the 9 hells do I beat this <expletive deleted> without crushing my game CD into dust??
It seems like no matter what I do I keep gettin m' arse kicked.
Is there someway to kill him before he turns into a dragon?? If not, what should I do after he turns into a dragon? And why is he see-thru when all the other dragons I've come across aren't? Is it an illusion?

My characters are: Main PC: Fighter, Minsc, Sir Anomen, Jaheira, Aerie, Imoen.

Any help would be appreciated. Especially if it's specific things to do.

Cast True Sight with ANomen, Imoen, Aerie with a couple of second intervals between each one. Cast your summons. A deva or planetar is useful here. Haste your guys, beserk MInsc. Use GWW with Minsc and your PC. Lower his resists with your mages. Stoneskin, Ironskins will be useful here. Use standard dragon fighting tactics (unless your tactics are fake-talk).I had no problem defeating him.

See through? i take it hes gone invisible as he like to do alot. When he changes to dragon form have someone cast True Sight. He also likes to cast immunity from abjuration, use Ruby Ray of Reversel on him to bring it down. Have Aerie and Imoen raise as many summons as possible. Use the Project Image trick to get past the Summon Limit. Use time stop and alacrity so they cast uninterupted and quickly. Cast as many Horrid Wilting and Dragons Breathes as you can muster in the time stop period. Cast resist fear on your pary before going into battle. Use your fighters HLA (hardiness, whirlwind etc) and send them in to engage Draconis. If you dont have boots of speed on them, cast haste on them

Just use GWW. GWW completely owns.
Note: I found Aerie really useless when I took her through ToB =( Kelsey really overpowered her. Next game, try using Kelsey, he owns!

Kelsey can kiss my Sorcerer's ~censored~ ;)

On a more serious note, either use a Deva or a Planetar, with Globe of Blades activated, to fight Draconis one on one when he is in human form. His melee attacks are ineffective against the Deva/Planetar, and most of his spells will bounce off their 90% Magic Resistance.

When Draconis turns into a Dragon, use a Mordenkainen's Sword to tank him. Use Anomen, Aerie and the Deva/Planetar to cast True Sight. Have Imoen cast Project Image, then use the illusion to cast Time Stop, then Improved Alacrity, then fire off as many spells as you can towards Draconis. Make sure to include at least 3 Lower Resistances and 4 Ruby Ray of Reversals.

Minsc and your Fighter should race to the back of Draconis and use Greater Whirlwind on him. Jaheira can cast Insect Plague or Creeping Doom on Draconis, then conjure up some summons.

Man I had this problem 2 it took me 2 weeks to kill him :D but it doesn't mean you won't take that long too. Its just that I had given up after while. I know a sweet easy tactic! Ahem you will need the following

YOU (of course)
Keldorn
Sarevok
Minsc
Edwin
a cleric is not neccesary but HIGHLY reccomended!

This tactic is simple to pull off. Ahem............. firstly get urself and get Keldorn only you and Keldorn! Cast truesight on Keldorn and walk up to Draconious after blah blah blah charge at Draconius he shan't be invisible but has stoneskin cast dispel from Keldorn. THen charge and WAm SLAM!!!If your attacks are doin nothing do dispel again when he is near death (this is not required but would make the fight MUCH EASIER us the special ability I think its called smite well it knocks ur enemy baaaack and stuns him fer 1 round do that and make sure he lands behind one of the pillars and hopefully he dies if you don't run up to him and do it again! when he turns bad bad dragon runs away as if ur clothes are on fire. (or walk) Now quickly with edwin lower the dracnious magic resistance (I used pierce magic) then make him cast power word BLIND!!!!! Hopefully his magic resistance won't come in and he is blinded. If he is send ur tanks and charge Draconius would really do much of anything but stand their like a fool. I don't think he even attacks though the flaw in this tactic is that draconious keeps on turnin invisiable! This is how I defeated all the dragons in this game and man it worked for me. But a warning.......you will face dragons as you dig deeper in the game but Draconius is the hardest of them all! It might take a couple tries but hey don't give up. My only regert is that I haven't done this in SOA I only killed one dragon.......I was too much of a coward to kill the others!!! (grumbles)

SYTHE! NO MORE COFFEE FOR YOU! (and i mean it, that was really hard to read:-p)

The tactic I used to smash Draconis is the same method I employ with any other dragon and it works sweet. Give your tanks some dragon killing weapons (drgns Bane +3, drgn Slayer etc) and whatever combat protections you've got (ironskins) and have them surround him along with a few tough summons of your choice. These guys will keep him occupied and probably even hurt him but the killing blow is gonna come from your wizard/s. While your tanks hold him up cast lower resistance several times, simultaneously if you've got more than one character to do it. Then cast Energy Blades and Time stop and let fly. You should be able to chuck all 20 or so blades (depending on your level) in that time and if his health is at the injured level then he'll more than likely croak.

If you don't have Energy Blades then Magic Missile is a great substitute. Surprisingly, MM seems to be very effective against dragons whereas many other high level enemies are immune. Simply cast Time Stop and Alacrity and fire off six MMs and if you're really keen a spell sequencer and a spell trigger (and maybe even a minor sequencer) all comprising of MMs. That's 14 consecutive MMs and even if each individual missile does an average of 3 damage, your gonna inflict at least 210 damage in one hit!

Can dragons say ouch?

Sever 11-16-2002 11:48 AM

Addendum to the above...

Minor sequencer cannot be used in tandem with sequencer. This makes only 12 magic missiles (only!?) which is still pretty godspawndamned powerful!
