I've just started this game and im stuck at the part where your going into a prison to try and find a secret root into a castle to see a deranged king. On the way i chatted to a young lady who told me that the corridor i was about to walk down is full of traps and patrolling guards. Ive tried loads of different tactics in trying to get past this and am not having much success.#

Do you mean you didn't find the secret door?

If you played BG2 you'll notice that the prison looks just like the dungeon in De'Arnise keep and the door is in the room with the stairs leading to the cellar in De'Arnise keep.

When uou get to the room with the locked chests, go right twice and there will be the sectret door.

the stairs opposite the entrance to the temple (the room wit golems in it) goes to the prison cells. you will encounter umbarks in there so be reasdy with your stinking cloud. some nice fire and acid arrows will burn the trolls lungs. enjoy.
