Hi everyone. Looks like my solo avenger is in for some real trouble. I've just started ToB and noticed its a bit more difficult than the core classes. But i was thinking that maybe you guys can give a few hints/tips on survivng the journey, im just about to fight gromnir and i havent got any special abilities as yet. The real problem is that avengers are lousy fighters and lousy shapeshifters and they really dont have a good arsernel of offensive spells, till now i've been surviving on earth elementals and fir elementals and i will continue this(greater/ elemental summoning). So any advice for my poor lil avenger. And i need help on his equipment too. He's proficient in smictars/staff/dagger/club/two weapon style.

I only know of one person who has soloed the entire game with an Avenger, but that was a long time ago, and I doubt he is around anymore. You can try casting Creeping Doom and Insect Plagues to handle the Mages and Clerics. If you are lucky, you might get the Greater Air Elemental, as it has permanent Globe of Blades. Just be careful not to get too close to it, and make other summons get out of its way.

Ironskins will help you to absorb physical attacks, while you can cast Chromatic Orb( IIRC, Avengers get this spell) and other spells. Chain Lightning is good too and if you Doom some of the melee fighters, cast Chaos at them to make them disorganised.

Hmm people in case you havent noticed just cast nature's beauty, it blinds a creature permanently(until dispelled). I'd like to tell you i've been using it very effectively, blind creature's this way and take them out with spells. Hehe its fun and funny.

Yes, but how much range does Nature's Beauty have? If I'm remembering my spells correctly, it takes more than half a round to cast, and it only affects targets within melee range. Who needs it?

I've designed a better version of the spell, called Honey Baby. It creates the illusion of a Nymph who runs (at Haste speed) in a straight line until she hits a wall, at which point she disappears. All enemies with at least 3 INT will run after her, and when she vanishes they become so sad that they can do nothing but cry for 1 round, because they let her get away. Blinded creatures, and creatures that do not reproduce sexually (such as Undead) are immune.

Err, how about a spell which creates an image of a creature sooo beautiful that monsters start howling like wolves and have their intelligence lowered to 1 or a creature so disgusting(i wonder who'd that be) that monsters start vomiting and die of disgust, yeah that'd be cool hehe!! Im soooo mean.

Command is a powerful spell.. Any one-word command will be obeyed. I once got that spell banned from our session because I abused it so much..
She crept through the throne room, completely silent, hidden by her invisibility spell. Slowly she approached the throne, where the king sat, the king she was to dethrone. Nobles and lords from all over the realm had come to hear him give a speech. The poison had been slipped into his drink earlier that day.. He wouldn't be able to resist any sort of compulsion spell. Closer, closer.. Finally she reached him. She leaned in, and whispered into his ear the one-word command word that would lead to kingdomwide pandemonium and the removal of the king...
