I had a bit of a problem when trying to play BG on Gamespy, and that was when I opened up the multiplayer within the game my computer froze. I also have a 56k modem which probably wasn't helping me much either.

I have never been able to play BG online....and it's not my lowly 56k, either. I have sucessfully played IWD online, no problem. ::shrugs::

The computer freezing problems are really disheartening. The way to overcome that is to make sure you're synchronized with the person you're playing with. To do this, you have to make sure you have the same versions of the patch for the game and directX. To verify your versions, you can view the readme file for TOSC and you can run the directx diagnostic tool to view the directX version (the file to run is called DxDiag.exe and should be in [drive letter]:\Program Files\directx\setup\ folder).

If both don't have the same versions, the players need to upgrade to the same versions.

Multi-player is really worth the effort. I hope this was helpful.
