I was just looking at Alora's portrait,(btw, Alora is the halfling theif you meet in the Hall of Wonders...but how come she has elf ears on her portrait?
I think I am missing something? |
yes. what you must do is enter a dark room and then try to do 40 flips naked. and only then you will be enlightened
|
I think pointy ears are common to Elves, Half-Elves, Halflings, and people named Nimoy (which is a fantasy-sounding name if I ever heard one). Other folks with the pointies include Montaron, Jaheira (in BG2, anyway, you can't see them in BG1), and Haer-Dalis.

I know that Elves and Half-Elves do, but I wasn't aware of Halflings. Are you 100% sure? |
Most mytholigies indeed include some Halfling sub-races containing spiked ears.

In some fantasy novel/game worlds Halflings have pointy ears, in others they have 'normal' ears. They have pointy ears in Toril/D&D and in Tolkien (at least in the movie, not sure about the book).

According to "The Official Advanced Dunfeons&Dragons Monster Manual" by Gary Gyggax (could HE be a halfling with a name like that?) published by TSR, Inc. they do in fact have pointy ears.
I have both the USA address and the UK addres on request. |
