TOB is about the only time you'll have a mage powerful enough to do something like this, but it's pretty cool! I like to take Imoen and buff her a bit with potions (str., speed, power, etc.). Have sequencers and/or contingencies ready with defensive protections (prot. from weap., stone skin, etc.) Cast Tensers Transformation and Black Blade of Disaster. Then hit the sequencers right as the battle with Fire giants starts. WOO HOO!!!! Boo aint seen nuthin like this!! She's a little dervish of destruction! An angel of black death! She makes Korgan look like a milk sop, Minsc drool, and Sarevok wet his cod peice! As long as the spells last she can take them ALL out! Sigh! They don't last long, but it's fun while it does!

There's too many possibilities with chain contingencies to pick any favorite. In this specific instance, you can use whatever spells you need activated "When enemy is sighted". That way you get the maximum time out of the spells. I like to use offensive spells and protection removal spells in sequencers usually. Once all spell protections are down, a couple double magic missile seqencers hurt 'em bad! I LOVE strength, haste, Black Blade of disaster and Tensers Transformation together! WOW! It turns a mage into an awesome killing machine! You literally become a fighter with 18+ str. weilding a +5 weapon at the grand mastery level with about 6 attacks per round! The weapon also has a chance to kill with each hit like a vorpal! Sliced, diced, or julianned, they will fall before you! I don't recommend this strategy against other mages. The spell durations are pretty short and a few protection spells can ruin your effectiveness. It works great on large, tough, non-magical meanies like fire giants though! |
Have Tenser's give the most bang for the buck: Do it with a Kensai->Mage who put at least 9 levels into his Kensai half. That way, you get double a FIGHTER's hitpoints, not just double a Mage's.
Or if you want extra cheese with that, have your Kensai->Thief use a scroll of Tenser's. |
