currently im playing through the game with just my monk and aeire (wanted to finally see her complete romance before i tried soloing)

just wondering for your opinions here since alot of you seem to rock at ToB, what would be a good character for a challenging solo run?

i was thinking maybe do a solo theif attempt but was wondering what all else some of you would reccomend for a greally great challenge

I suggest a ranger or ranger kit (I soloed with an archer through SoA and ToB on core rules - it was difficult, but not entirely impossible.)

Generally, when people solo, they choose a powerful class, although that is not always the case.

Jim has soloed with a Beastmaster.

I have soloed with a Cavalier and a Sorcerer.

Mitro Jellywader and Fuzzy Animal have also soloed with a Sorcerer.

Numerous others have soloed with Jesters, Monks, Kensai->Mages, Kensai->Thieves, Assassins, Mage, etc... ...

In my opinion, choose the class that you are most comfortable with... because no matter what you choose, it will be a challenge.

I think the beastmaster is the most difficult to solo, espes with the improved paches installed... Sorc is just a walk in the park, especialy afer u get TS...

I totally agree with dundee... Solo with what you like most. Keep in mind also what skills you are going to need... Do you need brute force? If so, you need a class or kit with okay fighting. Do you need killer spells? If so, you need a magic user. It is generally VERY handy to have a character with some theif skills. Without them, traps and locks can really get you down. If you think healing is a nice thing to have (and believe you me, it usually is), you need a class with some healing skill (or lots of money for potions).

Thus, some of the easiest characters to solo with a dualed or multied (often with a thief or fighter or both...) classed character. Multiclass is quite a bit improved with HLA now, so its better to use multi then dual ussually, unless you need a kit for part (kensai this, swashbuckler that, berserker this... ect). Swashbuckler is pretty darn easy to solo with, and a swashbuckler dualed to mage is also quite easy to play with (but pure is probably better).

Hey, I was thinking... I wanna solo either a Wild Mage or a Necromancer. Which should I solo? Oh! Does knock disarm traps on chests? Thanx

nope knock doesnt do traps, has proved quite annoying for me as of late =)
