OK, I figured it out. I screwed up before by taking the book out before putting the candle and bell in; then the 1st set of monsters attacked me, and I could NEVER get the dialog after that. Attention players who are starting Watcher's Keep: DO NOT take the book out of the altar when you find it!!!
Find the candle (Northwest room in trunk by the ovens), and bell (can't remember where but easy to find anyway) first. THEN put the candle and bell in the altar; the book is already in the altar. Then the 1st wave of monsters will appear. For both fights with the statues, I suggest putting the rest of your party in one of the two rooms in the west part of the level, casting monster summoning twice, leading the monsters out to the statues, putting the candle and bell in, running to the rest of the group, then casting as many monster summoning spells as you can. This technique also works (thank god) when you first open the central door and find all the wraiths attacking you. After you have defeated the 1st wave of statues, Take all 3 objects off the altar. Put all three in again. You should get a dialogue. If not, you screwed up and have to start the level all over again like I did. In the dialogue, ring bell, ring bell, light candle, read book. Again, be sure to summon monsters before doing this, and high-tail it out of there. |
