What is that "Deathbringer assault"? Is it some kind of special ability that Sarevok have, or what? It has happened quite often that Sarevok does ~200 damage to fire giants and other enemies... or is it something the enemies can do?

It's something of Sarevok's. As you said, sometimes he does tremendous damage on a normal attack. Not sure if this happens randomly or if there's a specific chance of it happening.

It sais something about it in his biography, can't remember the exact words, something about him studying hard to be a Deathbringer. You can think of it as his own special kit.

It's random, like his stun/paralysis effect. It's one of the neat things about Saverok that made me replace the otherwise indispensable Korgan with the big brute. That, and Jan's way of teasing Saverok by calling him "Bucky." :D
