I didn't have much trouble with it myself, doing it as a level 18/19 sorceror (Forget which). Fallen Planetar /really/ helped.

I am a kensai-mage, and I just use protection from magic weapons 2x, along with the rest of my trusted party, I don't have any problem with the first battle entering the Yaga-Shura temple. If thats what you meant.

i stand to the side of the archway leading into the fire giant hall where yaga shura heart is and just keep sending in wave after wave of skeleton warriors and mordiken swords. is that cheesy? i hope not. anyway, after the fell cats are killed off (cause they can see invisible things) my mage (she has the staff of magius from SOA) and acid arrows / lightning bolts / etc everyone to death. hehe.
