Just a question to all you nobles out there...do you think an xp cap remover is cheating??? Basically one that allows dual class or multi class to proceed to maximum levels in each class.
Just wondering folks.

Personally, I never use xp cap removers. There is enough xp in BGTob to make truly powerful characters as is. But that's just a personal choice.

What I wonder about is why some people chose to use character editors to hack all their stats to 25? To me, that just defeats the entire purpose of playing the game. Enough of this rant ... lol

I used the tomes and the multiples of the same charrie in multiplayer serial games to get my stats to 25 and I just did strength.

Aside from that the only times I have cheated are in the instances of bugs. Or my idoicy.

It turned out I left it in a desk in the mind flayer dungeon when I got the handle.

The only time I've ever used a cheat was in the original BG. Hacked all stats to 25, removed the xp cap and made one HECKUVA cleric/mage.

*puke* I don't see how that could be fun aside from killing ulruant when you meet up with him in the 5th chapter. I nailed that old crone with just my necromancer and some charming spells no hacks ... well some I was just a kid and new to the game. Gatewarden fought him for me. F.Y.I. before you set off to copy my task know this it takes at least an hour because ulruant has helluva HP he has no special items but it is fufilling to see the f**ker bite the dust. I swear you will hear applause when he dies.

I dont use cheats But I do use the XP remover. I dont think thats cheating because in PnP D&D you dont have a limit, dont see whay you should on a PC game.

There is a limit in PnP AD&D .... its called the Dungeon Master. Starting a game with stats at 25 is something I have NEVER seen allowed in a PnP game.

I guess I am just a purist. If hacking your stats to 25 makes the game more fun for you, then by all means have at it. For me, that would just take all the challenge out of it. To each his own.

It was sort of an experiment. I'd already beaten the game with a 'real' PC a few times; just wondered what it would be like to play with a hacked character.

All things considered, it got rather boring. That's why I haven't done it again.

Micah, I was talking exp points wise not Stat wise as to the limit. I personally would'nt increase my stats in any form of cheating in a PC game. No fun in that. And true THe DM has control over you Exp level in PnP, BUT you carry your characters over to the next adventure, hence no cap limit,

True enough, but the DM will adjust the monsters to be a challenge to your higher level character, while the BG games do not.
