I usually play pure classes/kits, so my knowledge of dualclassed characters is basic.

Assuming that I create a Wizard Slayer and dualclass him to a Mage at level 13, I know that I have to put a * somewhere, so I put it in Quarterstaffs. Then when my Mage attains level 6, can I put a second * in Quarterstaffs, or must I waste it on Daggers/Slings/Darts?

Thanks for helping.

When you dual class to or from fighter, you can add proficiencies to make it 5. You must waste it though, as you won't get access to adding extra ones yet. Sorry!

Why would you ever dual class a wizard slayer on level 13?

Darn... thanks for the help, I am roleplaying a character by the way.

All dual classed fighters should be dualed at level 13. A lot of people dont realise that fighters get an extra 1/2 attack at level 13, plus their saving throws drop by 2 ( 3 for breath ). Dont dual at level 12, 13 is the lucky number

WOW Dundee Slaytern with a question on baldurs gate.I must be on the wrong forum.

I'm thinking of Dual-classing my Fighters at Level 15 or 18, actually....I have no idea when they're going to come out of the Dual, though, because I can find just about ALL the info I need except an experience table. So maybe they'll finish the Dual in BG2, maybe in ToB.

Anyway. Weapon proficiencies. Your Mage will not be able to stack 2 stars in one weapon UNTIL his Fighter half becomes active again. From then on, he can put the stars wherever he wants, but as only his Mage half is active, he gains stars at the rate a pure Mage would--1 every 6 levels. And I think that until his Fighter half turns back on, he can only put the stars in Mage weapons.

If you are referring to Shadowkeeper, thanks but no thanks. ;) Unless there is an in-game way?
