Im sitting the the Throne of Blood, and ive beat her once. i used a couple whirlwinds force attack on her and she died quick.
save. I go to the pool and get level drained by the ******* vampiric mists. restore, aeries fatigued, but who cares? kill the elementals save. shut off the flow, Amelyssan comes out of the Throne and... CHEATS she knocks out all my characters, then summons a Shadow Slayer, casts Timestop, engages me in hand-to-hand and rips my head off. or sometimes she just unloads a half-dozen spells during the timestop. the end result is the same. HELP! the following advice has been recieved but is useless traps (i dont have enough) timestop her (i dont have the time, theres the aformentiond knock-out (read wing buffet) and i want to save the good stuff for later on anyway, plus shes likley immune) |
Possible Spoiler. Have you tried a spell trigger full of Lower Resistance? Usually works for me. Then you can MM them to death.
|
spell trigger, spell trigger, where have i heard that before?
oh, i havent. i have sequencers (which are to low level) and minor contingency which dosent target other people. sigh. nice idea tho. guess this will teach me about not getting spells properly. PS isnt she immune to it? id think she would be given what the last couple bosses were like. ravager was. balthazar .. wasnt, but that didnt matter cos i used an Iron Golem (imoen on shapechange) to get him. Timestop works wonders. |
How about a Wish spell? (with the "as if I'd rested" option)
|
yeah, nice if nalia had it memorized, but i got distracted and my last perm save is b4 abazigal (who was easy, in the end). good suggestion though.
(question - could i change it and then use limited wish to regain all my spells? cos then memorisation becomes far less critical. of course, also unreliable since you only get some spells back. |
What is your party makeup?

Melissan teleports out of the Throne to deal with me, who just shut off the Essence Flow.
With a shout of "You shall Suffer"!, she is slightly disconcerted when Andrew sprints forwards and dives flat. the blast from the 16 Skull traps behind her, detonated by Andrew, severley injures her, and (more importantly) disrupts her Time Stop! From then on, it is a simple matter to finish her, with only a pair of bone golems (half-dead from the blasts) and a shadow slayer (vorpal hit took care of that) to prolong her life, however slightly. except she refused to fight me to the death, and teleported back to the throne, opening another essence flow.Enter the Ice Prince, Chorax. for the record, i have me (fighter), minsc, imoen, jaheria, nalia and aerie. despite the high proportion of (allegedly)low-power characters, i have not had any massive problems thus far - forgetting to take the proper spellsets notwithstanding) |
Ah, andrewas, I take it you haven't fought the final sequence of battles before.
They're quite a challenge. SPOILERS AHEAD ............ . . . . . . . . . There are 7 battles that you have to fight without resting. First Melissan Air Elementals Second Melissan Ice Elementals Third Melissan (toughest) Fallen Solar and friends Fourth and final Melissan As you've seen, you cannot rest between battles. There is only time for a little healing, summoning, prep work. Obviously with 7 battles to fight, you cannot afford to waste everything in a single battle (except of course for the very final battle). I found it very challenging to be forced to fight these 7 battles without rest and having to husband my magical resourses. I found the 3rd battle against Mel to be the toughest because she dimension doors to the top of the screen, leaving a handful of slayers in your midst. This is a major pain because a) the slayers are nasty and b) you don't want to let Mel be left alone for too long because she'd heal herself and fire off plenty of nasty spells before you can force her into melee again. The time I fought her with my archer led party was the "easiest" because my archer was able to het her with arrows well before my tanks could engage on her. Above all else (at least IMHO) be prepared to have your mages cast breeching spells to drop her protections ASAP. If you can keep her from casting spells, you're ahead of the game. |
id guessed the four battles with mellisan (three pools, not hard)
id figured three sets of gaurdians. resting? who needs it? Wish, reload till i get the resting option. plus i can use my regen items for healing between battles. im about to go into round 3 with mellissan. then i install the ascension mod and get more tactics, less cheese. apparently. i'll get there eventualy. the most frustrating part so far has been re-doing the ravager(i never noticed the final save :( ) and hunting health potions and insight potions. |
