AFAIK most of the portraits that come with the game are used for NPCs who may join later. There are only a few that were made specifically for the player. For guys, ther's this bald-headed one with the beard, and the younger-looking sort in armour.
What happens if I use an NPC's portrait. I fancy the one with drawing a bow - Kivan's I believe? If he joins my party, what portrait will he use? |
If you use one of the NPC portraits and then have that NPC join your group, that NPC will then use a different portrait, one of the ones that is unclaimed by other NPC's. I once played a character using Montaron's portrait and when I came upon him in the game he was using the 2nd male picture, the one of the "knight". Kinda funny to see the drastic change
To answer your question, I would think Kivan would also use that 2nd male portrait of the young man in armor. If you don't like that, I imagine you could probably use a utility like GateKeeper to change his portrait. |
I am currently using "Kivan's" portrait and when Kivan spoke to me outside High Hedge he had some weedy elf portrait so no need to worry about seeing a "twin" of yourself.

In multiplayer mode you do see twin portraits. (I always play in MP mode. Keeps the game from unpausing when you go into an inventory screen during combat.)

Luckily both times I have played, I have picked portraits just for you (the knight and the Irish looking half-ling). My bro once used Ajantis' picture, and his changed to the other knight
