Well Anyway, I have completed ToB with a solo mage, but at the end all I did was caste haste+ blackblade of diasaster+ timestop....hack + timestop......hack + timestop....hack.....an so on, and with 6 lvl 9 spells (Especially edwin, only 5 or 4 normally) this would defeat any enemy. Demogorgon? Bah! No fun anymore!!!

Admittedly you have to rest......ALOT

Mages are great and will always be the most powerful class. This is because they have so many possibilities, and can do almost anything any other class can do, except with their spells. They level up slowly in BG I and II, but by the time you get to ToB they just kick ass in every respect

I thought demogorgon is immune to timestop? I guess Im wrong...

Demogorgan is immuned to Time-Stop, so I am just taking Euronymous's comments with a pinch of salt. ;)

I would be impressed with anybody though, if they can solo Improved Demogorgan with a solo Mage/Sorcerer.

This seems a job for dundee slytern, right guys???? :D
I'll wait for your narration, hehehe

BTW If Im not mistaken, I believe Elmonster(see Baldurdash) finished it with a solo sorcerer..

Some guys are just gifted narrators..

I havent seen a monster that chaos sphere cannot kill yet
I havent seen a monster that wond of wonder cannot kill yet

I've never played ToB, so tell me what he is like?
immune to everything?
10 attacks per round with nasty damage?
can he kill Mordenkainen's Sword?
can he see invisible creatures?

a lot of weakness, so it seems :D

Heh, no problem white_sapphire. Currently though, I am still stumped on how to defeat Improved Demogorgan properly. He is immuned to Time Stop and Lower Resistance. Since I cannot lower his Magic Resistance, this makes the majority of spells useless.

I only have one question though. Is Demogorgan immuned to Imprisonment? I ask this because, if he is... then I shall be forced to go melee with him, and the results will be extreme... either I win gloriously, or poor Odin get squished like a bug.

What do you think of this stragedy? Assuming Imprisonment is not an option.

Before Battle:

Minor Spell Sequencer: Mirror Image, Protection from Petrification.
Spell Sequencer: Errrr... Spider Spawn x3
Spell Trigger: Animate Dead x3
Contingency: Protection from Magical Weapons cast on self when enemy sighted.
Chain Contingency: Simulacrum, Protection from Energy, Mislead cast on self when enemy sighted.

Cast on my Sorcerer Stoneskin, Resist Fear, Spell Immunity( Evocation), and Mirror Image respectively just before the battle.

Start using scrolls... ...

Cast Improved Haste, Black Blade of Disaster

During Battle:

Cast Time Stop as the Contengencies kick in, wait for Demogorgan to finish his Time Stop, then my Time Stop starts.

Demogorgan is immuned to my Time Stop, but my spell protections will protect me for 4 rounds.

Pray as I hack away, hack away. I will also try to lure Demogorgan away from the rest of the Demons, so that I do not need to use Time Stop to prevent the Demons from attacking me, my simulacrum double will also serve as Demon fodder( distraction) while I attract Demogorgan. I will try to recast PfMW as neccessary, to prevent Demogorgan from hitting me, not something I want to happen when I am soloing on Insane Difficulty.

Improved Demogorgan is 100% Magic Resistant, you have no way of lowering his Magic Resistance, so your spells are moot, and yes, he can see invisible units.

Mordenkainen's Sword can delay him, but he casts Implosion like candy and his spells are not interruptable, plus the fact he has an almost infinite casting of Stoneskin.

Wand of Wonder may kill him, but that is a gamble on your part.

What is this "Improved" Demogorgon that you keep going on about?

Oh and if you want proof I can provide a savegame wwith demogorgon dead at my knees ok Dundee Slaytern ?

And anyway I used my copyrighted tactic shown below (admittedly with my solo mage, and not in in hell, but neer demogorgon heheh)
